Our Team
Jay K. Nixon
A 1980 graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Jay is our resident expert in criminal law, bankruptcy, and business litigation. When you need your business, freedom, or finances protected, he's who you want in your corner. Jay started his legal career at the Kenosha County District Attorney's Office in 1980, where he fully litigated around 80 jury cases to the final verdict, in addition to thousands of other cases which settled before trial. After starting his Racine private practice in 1984, he served as a Chapter 7 bankruptcy panel trustee for cases filed in Walworth, Racine, and Kenosha Counties. He opened the Janesville office in 2015 while also running the Racine Office, which migrated to Kenosha in 2017, to its present location in the prestigious Exchange Building at 1119-60th Street, three blocks west of Sheridan Road.
Jonathan Formhals
Jonathan is our Office Manager who also handles estate planning, probate, and traffic and criminal court paperwork. He is semi-retired from a law enforcement career, which included service as a sworn officer, followed by a 21-year career as a 911 Communications Specialist for the Racine Police Department. His diverse background lends itself extremely well to casework.
Elisa Bishop
Elisa manages our Immigration and Probate cases.  She is a certified immigration consultant who is fluent in Spanish and who serves as our interpreter in numerous other case types.
Elisa also manages our production for bankruptcy cases and is a master of the court's ECF filing website and a top-notch online investigator. She assists clients with making sure that all creditors are properly listed, so the problems solved by filing remain solved. She is a well-established Paralegal and Notary Public.
